While this adds a touch of mystery, it also cleverly avoids referencing the double retrograde display function that shook the watchmaking world thirty years ago. This is consistent with the brand's style—they also once released a watch telling the story of Merlin and the Lake Nymph. However, "La Placide" isn't a mythical wizard, but rather Roger Dubuis's nickname. He was a Boy Scout in his youth, and received this name for his calm and gentle nature, which he used throughout his life. Speaking of names, the first "Hommage" watch was a tribute to those who inspired and nurtured watchmaker Roger Dubuis. Restoration and Recalculation: The restored RD14 base integrates perfectly with the RD72 perpetual calendar module. First introduced in 1999, the RD72 is one of Roger Dubuis's favorite movements, integrating day, date, month, leap year, and moon phase displays. To achieve this perfect fusion of mechanisms, Roger Dubuis independently rebuilt the mainplate, bridges, and nearly half of the components—including levers, springs, gears, and pinions. The ingenious double-star mechanism uses 12-tooth and 48-tooth gears to display the month and leap year on a single counter.

The brand had previously only combined the RD14 movement with the RD72 module once before, creating the Caliber 1472. Now, this 307-part movement features a new 18K rose gold rotor and employs 15 traditional decorative techniques, including Geneva stripes, circular graining, mirror polishing, and perlage.
